Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Belonge ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

Belonge is a UK employment law platform built for employees facing grievances, disciplinaries, performance management, redundancy, discrimination, whistleblowing, TUPE, settlement agreements, and Employment Tribunal claims. We deliver tailored, outcome-focused support.

Our paid services, including Case Assessment, ET1 review, drafting review and Legal Coaching, are delivered or supervised by UK employment law experts with Tribunal experience.

Alongside our paid services, the platform provides:

• An AI Companion trained on UK employment law (ERA 1996, ERA 2025 reforms, ACAS Code, current statutory rates) for guided conversations and signposting
• Rights Check, a structured self-assessment that maps your situation against UK employment law
• Case Hub: journaling, incident logging, deadline tracking and document/evidence management
• Purchasable guides and templates covering grievances, appeals, discrimination, whistleblowing, redundancy and ET1 claims
• A Local Services Marketplace connecting users with independent UK service providers
• Community features for peer support with other employees facing workplace issues

Belonge provides legal support to workers and individuals who are representing themselves at tribunal. Belonge does not provide representation at tribunal hearings, does not assign representatives and does not conduct litigation on your behalf.

3. Eligibility & Age Verification

You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old. We reserve the right to request proof of age and to suspend or terminate accounts where we reasonably believe a user is under 18.

4. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Promptly update any changes to your information
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access

5. Acceptable Use & Community Guidelines

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe upon the rights of others
• Transmit harmful, threatening, abusive, or harassing content
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service
• Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Share false or misleading information

Community Conduct

When using connection and community features, you agree to:

• Treat all members with respect and dignity
• Refrain from harassment, bullying, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind
• Not solicit other users for commercial purposes without prior consent
• Report any abusive behaviour using the in-app reporting tools
• Respect other users' privacy and do not share their personal information without consent

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these community guidelines, with or without notice.

6. Intellectual Property & Trademarks

All content, features, and functionality of the Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software, are owned by Belonge or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

Trademarks

"Belonge" is a registered trademark in the United Kingdom (Trademark No: UK00003102025, UKIPO). The Belonge name, logo, tagline, and all associated branding are the exclusive property of Belonge Limited. You may not use, reproduce, or display the Belonge trademark, logo, or brand assets without prior written consent from Belonge Limited. Unauthorised use of the Belonge trademark may result in legal action.

7. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service, including journal entries, uploaded documents, and messages sent to the AI companion. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute your content in connection with the Service. You represent that you have all necessary rights to grant this licence.

Uploaded files (e.g. evidence, contracts, or other documents) are stored securely and only accessible to you unless you explicitly choose to share them.

8. AI Companion

The AI companion provides general workplace guidance based on the information you share. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated responses are for informational and educational purposes only
• The AI companion does not provide legal advice or draft formal legal documents
• Responses may not account for all circumstances of your specific situation
• You should verify important decisions with qualified professionals
• Belonge does not provide representation at hearings; for tailored guidance, book a Case Assessment via /book-consultation

9. Payments, Subscriptions & Refunds

Certain features, guides, templates, and subscriptions are available for purchase. By making a purchase, you agree to the following terms:

Pricing & Payment

• All prices are displayed in GBP (£) and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise
• Payments are processed securely through a trusted third-party payment processor; we do not store your full card details

Subscriptions

• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled
• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings
• Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of your current billing period
• No pro-rata refunds are given for partial billing periods
• After your subscription ends, your account reverts to the free tier; your data is retained

Digital Products (Guides & Templates)

• Digital products are available immediately upon purchase
• By purchasing a digital product, you consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that you waive the 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013
• Digital products are non-refundable once accessed or downloaded
• If you experience a technical issue preventing access, contact us within 14 days for assistance

Marketplace Transactions

• A platform booking fee of £5 applies to each marketplace transaction
• Belonge acts as an intermediary and is not a party to the contract between service provider and client
• Disputes between marketplace users should first be attempted to be resolved directly between the parties

10. Marketplace Terms

The Local Services Marketplace connects users with independent service providers. By using the Marketplace:

For Service Providers

• You are responsible for the accuracy of your listing, qualifications, and the quality of your services
• You must hold any required professional licences or insurance for the services you offer
• You are an independent contractor, not an employee or agent of Belonge

For Clients

• You are responsible for evaluating service providers before engaging them
• Belonge does not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any service listed
• Reviews and ratings must be honest and based on genuine experiences

Belonge's Role

Belonge provides the platform for connection only. We are not responsible for disputes, losses, or damages arising from marketplace interactions. We may verify provider credentials but do not guarantee the accuracy of verification.

11. Scope of Service

12. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

• Scheduled maintenance (we will endeavour to provide advance notice)
• Emergency security updates or patches
• Force majeure events beyond our reasonable control (including but not limited to natural disasters, power outages, cyber-attacks, or government actions)

We shall not be liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by temporary unavailability of the Service.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Belonge shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Belonge, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

15. Account Termination & Data Deletion

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. You may also delete your account at any time through your account settings.

Upon Account Deletion

• Your profile, journal entries, uploaded documents, and AI conversation history will be permanently deleted within 30 days
• Payment and transaction records are retained for 7 years as required by UK tax law
• Any active subscriptions will be cancelled
• Marketplace reviews you have left may be retained in anonymised form
• Data that has been shared with other users (e.g. in community features) may persist in those contexts

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law) shall remain in effect.

16. Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint about the Service, we encourage you to contact us first at legal@belonge.co.uk so we can attempt to resolve the matter informally.

If we are unable to resolve a dispute informally, you may refer the matter to an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider. For UK consumers, the following options are available:

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

18. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Service, updating the "Last updated" date, and where appropriate, notifying you by email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
